Mexican Poet Jose Emilio Pacheco Dies

This News Reported From MEXICO CITY: Award-winning Mexican poet Jose Emilio Pacheco past away Sunday, agents said.

He was 74."We lament the transient of Jose Emilio Pacheco. Our sympathies to his family and friends," Mexico´s National heritage and creative pursuits assembly said on Twitter.

President Enrique Pena Nieto furthermore paid tribute."A great agent of our (Spanish-language) publications has passed away.

Mexico will overlook the large writer Jose Emilio Pacheco. May he rest in peace," the president tweeted.

Well known as an essayist, translator and bard, Mexico City-born Pacheco won worldwide respects such as Spain´s ruler Sofia Iberoamerican verse Prize (2009) and the Cervantes Prize (2009), the peak accolade in the Spanish language.

In Latin America, he was honored with the Octavio Paz prize (2003) and Pablo Neruda Iberoamerican verse reward (2004).

amidst Pacheco´s better known works were "Los trabajos del mar" (1984), "Iras y no volveras" (1973) and his poetry assemblage "Tarde o temprano" (2009).
